About these plans
These plans follow the Grade 4 Pupil's Book whose ten units run from My family and friends to Happy days; if your copy differs, match the plans to your own book. Grade 4 is still taught mainly through listening and speaking, with short reading and writing. Let pupils say everything before they write it. Stage times are for a 40-minute period.
Every plan on this page was written by RCF English. The unit and activity names refer to the government Pupil's Book so that you can find the right page; no textbook text is reproduced here. Download it as an editable Word document or a print-ready PDF.
The four stages, and the colour each one uses

| Presentation | 10 min | Shows the new language in a clear context. |
| Practice | 12 min | Pupils use it in controlled tasks, usually from the Pupil's Book. |
| Production | 13 min | Pupils use it more freely, for a purpose of their own. |
| Check and close | 5 min | A quick check of learning, then homework. |
