Study Packs
Complete English study packs, free to download. Self-learning material issued by provincial education departments and the Ministry, collected here grade by grade.
A study pack is a whole term's work in one file: lessons, reading passages, practice exercises and, in some packs, answers. Most of these were produced so that children could keep working when schools were closed, which is why they explain things rather than simply setting tasks. That makes them unusually useful now - for a child catching up, for a teacher who needs ready-made material, and for a parent who wants to see what is actually covered in a year.
Where these come from, and how they are handled
These packs were produced by provincial departments of education and the Ministry of Education in Sri Lanka and distributed free to schools. They are linked here, not re-hosted - every download opens the file at its own source.
Every link was checked individually before publication. Each file was confirmed to be shared as Anyone with the link - Viewer, so it opens for any visitor and cannot be altered by anyone reaching it.
Nothing in this section is RCF English's own commercial material, and no paid resource appears here. If you own the rights to something listed and want it removed, please use the corrections and takedown page.

Getting the most out of a study pack
These are long documents, and working straight through one from page one is the least effective way to use it.
Find the contents page first
Almost every pack has one. Decide which two or three units the child actually needs before printing or reading anything.
Use them to fill a specific gap
A pack is at its best when a child has missed a topic or never understood one. Work the unit that covers it, not the whole book.
Do the exercises on paper
The packs were written to be worked through with a pen. Reading the explanations without doing the tasks teaches very little.
Check whether the pack contains answers
Some do and some do not. Where a separate answer key exists it is listed as its own entry in the list above.
Match the term to the time of year
First-term and third-term packs cover different units. Using the wrong one will not match what the class is doing.
Print only what you need
Several packs are over 10 MB and run to a hundred pages or more. File sizes are shown on every entry so you can judge before downloading on a phone.
Common questions
Are these free?
Yes, entirely. They were produced by government education departments and distributed free to schools, and they are linked here at no charge.
Nothing on this page is a paid RCF resource. RCF English's own books are in a separate RCF Publications section.
Do I need a Google account to download them?
No. Every file was checked before being listed and is shared so that anyone with the link can view and download it, whether signed in or not.
If a link ever fails to open, please tell us through the contact page - it usually means the owner has changed the sharing setting.
What is the difference between a study pack and a past paper?
A study pack teaches: it explains a topic, gives examples and then sets practice. A past paper tests what has already been learned.
Use packs during the year to learn and revise, and past papers closer to the examination to practise under time. Doing past papers before the material has been taught mostly produces discouragement.
Which pack should a Grade 11 student start with?
For a student who is broadly on track, the O/L English Study Pack is the most compact overview of the paper and its question types.
For a student who is behind, the O/L English Acceleration Kit is designed exactly for that situation. The Sabaragamuwa self-learning pack is the fullest of the three and best used across a whole term rather than in a final revision push.
Can teachers photocopy these for a class?
These were issued by education departments for exactly that purpose, so classroom use is what they were made for.
They remain the property of the issuing department. Use them with pupils freely; do not republish them as your own or sell them.
Why do some grades have several packs?
Different provinces produced their own material, and packs were issued term by term. Grade 11 has the most because it is the Ordinary Level examination year and received the most attention.
Where two packs cover the same grade, they are usually complementary rather than alternatives - check the term and the province shown on each entry.
