What this collection actually contains

17 papers, from 2018, 2019, 2022, 2024, 2025 and 2026: nine from provincial departments, five from zonal offices and one from a school. By term, that is five first-term, seven second-term and three third-term papers, and there are also two marking schemes and one model paper.

The files are not stored on this website. Each paper opens in Google Drive. View the paper reads it in your browser; Download PDF saves it. Nothing is copied onto this site.

More papers are still being checked. A paper is added only after somebody has opened the file and confirmed what is in it, so this list grows slowly and will keep growing.

Using a Grade 7 paper well

Grade 7 papers ask for more writing than Grade 6 ones, and that is where most of the marks move.

  • Watch the writing question, not the grammar section. Grammar marks are usually held; writing marks are usually lost. If time is short, practise the writing.
  • Insist on planning, even for a short answer. Two or three words of plan before a paragraph is the habit that separates a Grade 7 writer from a Grade 10 one, and it is far easier to build now.
  • Use a paper from a different province once the local ones feel familiar. The syllabus is the same; the phrasing is not, and meeting an unfamiliar wording in practice is better than meeting it in an examination.
  • Keep the marking schemes. There are two here. Marking a paper against a real scheme, rather than a guess, is what makes practice honest.
