Who awards this diploma

The Primary Elocution Teachers' Diploma is awarded by CALSDA — the Colombo Association of Language Skills and Dramatic Art — which also sets and conducts the examination.
RCF Online Academy does not award this diploma. It conducts a preparatory course for candidates who intend to sit the CALSDA examination.

What the course is

A six-month professional preparatory course, conducted online by Rohana Fernando, for candidates who intend to sit the Primary Elocution Teachers' Diploma examination.

It is a teaching course, not an examination. Its purpose is to prepare a candidate to present themselves for the CALSDA examination with the speech work, the reading and the confidence that the examination calls for.

The same method as the rest of the Academy

How the course is taught

Speech work improves the way writing does: by being shown, practised with guidance, then performed independently and corrected.

Clear explanation
Each element is explained plainly before it is practised, so a candidate knows what is being asked of them and why.
Demonstration
The teacher models the work aloud. Speech cannot be learnt from a page alone; it has to be heard.
Guided practice
Candidates practise with the teacher listening, and are corrected as they go rather than afterwards.
Independent performance
Candidates present prepared work without support, as they will have to in the examination.
Individual correction
Each candidate is corrected individually. This is the part of the course that does most of the work.
Regular revision
Earlier work is returned to deliberately through the six months, rather than covered once and left.
