Our Staff

Rohana Fernando is an experienced English teacher and lecturer who has devoted several decades to English-language learning and teaching. He founded RCF English and teaches all seven courses at RCF Online Academy.

His work extends beyond classroom teaching to teacher support, online learning communities, educational publishing and the preparation of practical learning materials. More about the founder.

The elocution diploma courses

Associate Membership of CALSDA reflects a professional connection with the association whose examinations these courses prepare candidates for. It is a membership, not an office: it does not make the Academy a representative of CALSDA, and the diplomas are awarded by CALSDA alone.

The Literature courses

A degree in English supports the reading of poetry, drama and fiction, and the close attention to a text that a good Literature answer needs.

Every course

Advanced study in linguistics supports an understanding of how English actually works rather than a list of rules; TESOL training supports teaching English to learners for whom it is not a first language; and several decades in classrooms supply what qualifications alone cannot — knowledge of where learners actually go wrong, and of what genuinely helps them.
