Grade 6-11 Resources

Grade 6 English

Grade 6 follows the new 2026 syllabus, which is organised by skill rather than by grammar topic. These activities cover listening, reading a functional text, writing in an official context, and reading a literary text. Each one names the competency level it practises.

Grade 6 is on the new syllabus

From 2026, Grade 6 works to a syllabus organised around five competencies — listening, speaking, reading, writing and literary appreciation — with texts grouped as functional, informational or literary. The competency numbers here do not match those used in Grades 7 to 11.

Grade 6 English practice

Reading a timetable, filling in a form, and reading a simple poem. These follow competency levels 3.1, 3.2, 3.5, 3.6 and 4.1 of the 2026 syllabus.

Listening

Grade 6 listening practice

Five complete listening tests: short conversations, an announcement, a description and a story. The passage is read aloud by your own browser, so there is nothing to download.

Choose Practice to replay as often as you like, or Formal test for examination conditions, where the recording plays twice only. You can change the reading speed, and the transcript appears only after you submit. These follow competency levels 1.1 to 1.6 of the 2026 syllabus.
