Show picture pairs and elicit the opposites. Explain synonyms with warm – hot and happy – glad.

Write opposites under the pictures (Activity 3) and match opposites (Activity 4). Circle the two synonyms in each set (Activity 5).

Pairs describe a classmate's bag with three adjectives; the partner replies with the opposites or a synonym.

Opposites race: teams of two, teacher calls a word.
Homework Write ten opposite pairs of your own.
