What is in here
There are 75 games here across 16 themed units, about 4.2 hours of play in all, covering the sixteen Grade 2 themes, which revisit the Grade 1 topics and take each one further.
Everything is free, needs no account, and works on a phone. There is no advertising anywhere in the Game Zone.
The games follow the themes of the Sri Lankan Pupil's Book for the grade, so a child plays the words they are meeting in class that term.
What it practises
- The same themes, a year on. School, home, animals, water, the sky, food, transport: the words a child met in Grade 1 come back with more of them, and in short sentences rather than single words.
- Polite English: Good morning, sir. Excuse me. Here are ... I'm from ...
- Putting words in order, which is new this year - eleven of the games ask a child to build a sentence rather than only recognise a word.
Getting the most from it
Grade 2 children will play longer than Grade 1 children, but ten minutes is still the right length. If a game is too easy, it is: move to the next theme rather than finishing every game in order.
