What is in here
There are 19 games here across 7 topics, about 1.3 hours of play in all, covering seven topics for a learner ready for real sentences: nature and the environment, adjectives, the simple past, sentence building, reading comprehension, everyday conversations and British English vocabulary.
The level is CEFR A2. Everything is free, needs no account, and works on a phone.
What it practises
- The simple past, which is where a learner stops describing only the present and can tell somebody what happened.
- Building whole sentences, and reading a short text for meaning rather than for single words.
- Everyday conversations - the exchanges that actually occur, rather than the ones textbooks invent.
Getting the most from it
This level is the bridge to the ESL worksheets, which carry the same content on paper with answer keys. A learner who finds these games easy is ready for those.
Where to go after the games
This is the highest level in the game zone, and a learner who finds it easy has outgrown games as their main practice. What helps next is reading and writing with feedback.
The free ESL worksheets carry the same grammar on paper with answer keys, and the ESL lesson plans give a teacher a full lesson around each point. For an adult learner working alone, the writing practice pages are the natural next step.
